KHAIRPUR: Date growers have being suffering losses of millions of rupees due to the monopoly of traders and negligence of the government.

d, in Sindh it is cultivated on 32,000 hectors, producing above 300,000 m
etric tonnes, in Punjab
about 5,900 hectors area and producing 45,000 m
etric tonnes, in KPK on 1,400 hectors area producing 10,500 m
etric tonnes but government has been paying no a
ttention for promotion of date and never prepared a plan to provide facilities to date growers.
In Khaipur district date gardens are established above 50,000 acres area and is the the main source of the revenue in Taluka Khairpur. But federal and Sindh governments as well as district administration have not been paying a
ttention for the improvement and promotion of date production. The date are being exported to America, Melbourne, Sydney, Australia and India.
