LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah on Monday issued notices on an application filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Jehangir Tareen requesting the court to make four MNAs as respondents in a petition against disqualification reference.
The chief justice sought replies from the National A
ssembly speaker, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and MNAs Marraym Orangzeb, Maiza Hameed, Ashiq Shah and Talal Chaudhry till December 1.
The lawmakers had accused Tareen of getting loans from different banks, which he later had “written o
ff”. They had alleged that Tareen did not mention this fact during filing his nomination papers.
National A
ssembly (NA) Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq had sent a refer
ence against Tareen seeking his disqualification under article 63 of the constitution.
Tareen had already chall
enged the reference in the LHC. In his petition, he had not made these lawmakers as a
party, but now through an application, he sought permission of making them a
party.
