ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Affairs Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday said that unnecessary delay in extension of power to the paramilitary rangers in Sindh would not only disrupt security operation against terrorists but also put negative impact on performance of civil armed forces.
In a letter written to Sindh chief minister regarding extension in authority of the Pakistan Rangers in Sindh, he said that it was common responsibility of both federal and provincial governments to remove hurdles and complete process that started after mutual consensus.
He said that the rangers have played a vital role for improvement of law and order situation and restoration of routine life in Sindh, especially in Karachi. The chief minister should use his own authority to extend rangers’ powers in Sindh, he said.
On the other hand, Rangers Director General Major General Bilal Akbar telephoned the minister and discussed issue related to delay in extension for issuance of notification about the powers of the paramilitary force in Sindh Nisar said that the hard work of the rangers’ personnel for peace in Karachi would not go waste.
